In the vibrant city of Sibiu, where cultures blend and friendships form, the Sibiu International Friends group is taking an exciting step forward. We are thrilled to announce our participation in the Sibiu Marathon, not just as athletes but as ambassadors of a cause close to our hearts: the "Vrem să învățăm limba Română" project.
Our project, "Vrem să învățăm limba Română" (We Want to Learn Romanian), is dedicated to breaking down language barriers and fostering deeper connections within our diverse community. By offering free Romanian language courses for A1 and A2 levels, we aim to support all foreigners, immigrants, and migrants living in Sibiu in their journey to integrate and embrace the local culture.
This initiative was born out of the collective vision of Sibiu International Friends, a group created by a dynamic mix of expatriates, immigrants, migrants, and local Romanians on Facebook two years ago. Our goal was to create a supportive space where people from all walks of life could share experiences, socialize, and support each other in a new environment.
As we lace up our running shoes for the marathon, we're not just aiming to cross the finish line; we're running to raise awareness and support for this project. Our participation symbolizes our commitment to inclusivity, cultural adaptation, and mutual support — values that lie at the heart of our community.
Since its inception, "Vrem să învățăm limba Română" has evolved significantly. Starting with no financial resources, our group has facilitated access to free Romanian language courses, thanks to the generous contribution of a teacher who offered to lead these classes voluntarily. This initiative has enabled us to address a crucial need within our community, helping new arrivals navigate their new life in Sibiu with greater ease and confidence.
